If I could go back to day one, here's the advice I'd give myself. Spoiler: it's not about the algorithm.
1. The first 3 seconds are everything
If you don't hook people in the first three seconds, they'll scroll. I spent months making good videos that nobody watched because the opening was slow.
2. Quality matters, but not how you think
It's not about expensive cameras. It's about clear audio, good lighting, and making sure people can see and hear you properly. A phone and a window is a great start.
3. Trends are tools, not a strategy
Jumping on trends can get you views, but if that's all you do, you won't build a loyal audience. Use trends to get discovered, then give people a reason to stay.
4. Comments are gold
The comment section is where community happens. Reply to everything, especially early on. It costs nothing and means everything to a new follower.
5. Don't check the views
Watching the view count in real time will drive you mad. Post it, walk away, come back tomorrow. Your job is to make the next video, not obsess over the last one.
